Plant More Trees To Save The Earth

Did you know that all around the world, 3 to 6 billion trees are cut down each and every year. This has to do with the demand for goods that are produced from trees. Writing paper and household tissues are an illustration of this, as well as the timber used to construct homes. And unfortunately, we need the things that the trees produce but we can do something about the depletion of our forests.

Trees are celebrated on Arbor Day and the idea is that we should plant trees at that time but this is not really tackling the issue. This is because virtually all individuals aren’t going out and planting a tree. If each one of us could plant a tree, it would make a big difference.

Would you believe that there are more or less 7 billion people right now? That is merely an approximation as you can’t keep an exact count. However, if each of those 7 billion folks went out and planted a tree every Arbor Day, we would be able to replace all the trees that were dropped that year. The likelihood of this happening is remote.

If you want to maintain our planet, planting trees is a good step that you can take. When it comes to planting a tree, I would not advise you just do this on a particular day each year. I am suggesting planting a tree approximately once per month or even once a week. The reason is because someone must make up for all those individuals are using our resources but don’t want to plant a tree for whatever reason.

On Arbor Day, the number of trees that are planted is only between 8 and 15 million. That still results to a 5 billion tree deficit each and every year. Unfortunately, this is not improving.

A complete answer is necessary that still encourages people to plant trees but I would also propose the following. If a law could be enacted that whenever a tree is chopped down by lumber companies, they then had to plant two new ones, this could genuinely make a big difference.

But then, until someone has the presence of mind to make this a reality, we are left to take care of replacing the trees ourselves. In fact, restoring the number of trees required is definitely doable. If every month, approximately 10% of people in the world could plant a tree, that would compensate for the numbers being chopped down annually.

On average, that would be just over 7 billion trees being planted annually. For the number of trees we need to return to, an effective net gain of 1 billion trees will be the means to attain this goal.

So for anyone who wants to make a positive difference to our environment, go plant a tree. Keep in mind that we just need 10% of everyone on the planet to commit to this. And you may be one of those people helping out.
